The Coalition of Information and Media Users in South East Europe (CIMU SEE) in cooperation with UNESCO and the European Commission, opens a call for registration (until 31 July 2019) aimed at mapping all organizations in the Western Balkans and Turkey working in the field of media and information literacy (MIL).
If your organization is an NGO, CBO, association, network, training/academic institution, media organization, regulatory body (such as broadcasting commission) or self-regulatory body (such as Press Council), library or other information provider, public or private entity, research institution and organizations involved in MIL-related activities (information literacy, media literacy, digital literacy, news literacy etc.), whether online or offline, in the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia) and Turkey, then this call is relevant to you.
To participate in this mapping exercise, register your organization before 31 July 2019 by completing this questionnaire.
The purpose of this mapping is threefold. First, the main findings will be presented in a report. The report will provide MIL stakeholders with information about existing organizations in the region that work within the field of MIL, their main work, geographical reach and focus on their MIL activities. The partners involved in this initiative believe that this will enable MIL stakeholders to create synergies between MIL initiatives to support building trust in media and demand for quality media.
Second, the mapping will strengthen the CIMU SEE, a pioneering initiative of MIL stakeholders in South East Europe and Turkey, which constitutes the first regional MIL network in SEE. CIMU SEE already connects a variety of MIL-related organizations in this region. It aims to increase informed, active, and critical citizens/audiences of media and information users who are capable of influencing the conduct of media and information sectors and governments of the countries of the region.
All MIL-related organizations in the Western Balkans and Turkey participating in this mapping are invited to join CIMU SEE. Read more about CIMU SEE and become a member by following this link http://www.cimusee.org/
Finally, through this mapping, participating organizations will simultaneously join the Global Alliance for Partnerships on Media and Information Literacy (GAPMIL). The UNESCO-led GAPMIL is a groundbreaking effort to promote international cooperation to ensure that all citizens have access to media and information competencies. The alliance gathers over 500 organizations from over 80 countries who have agreed to join forces and stand together for change.
