The Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) has announced a new call for applications for a two-day training course on investigative reporting and fact-checking.

The course aims to equip journalists with the skills needed to combat fake news and unverified reporting by teaching them how to identify false information and produce verified content that meets professional journalistic standards. The training will be highly practical, drawing on the unique experiences of seasoned journalists who have honed these skills in similar environments.

The course is open to final-year journalism students, recent graduates, and both young and professional journalists from Western Balkan countries, including Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia.

After completing the training, participants will have the opportunity to join a Fellowship Program focused on producing articles related to cross-border investigations and fact-checking.

The training will be held in Kosovo. Specific details about the venue, agenda, and accommodation will be provided to selected participants.

The application deadline is 15 September, 2024.
