Trieste – The CEI SEEMO Award for Outstanding Merits in Investigative Journalism aims to honour journalists who greatly contribute to investigative reporting despite the difficult conditions under which they often have to operate. Past recipients include qualified media professionals who have demonstrated a high commitment in performing their work. The Award is traditionally presented on the occasion of the South East Europe Media Forum (SEEMF) to be held in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, on 7-8 October 2013.
The CEI and the SEEMO, in special partnership with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), have opened applications for the edition 2013 of the Award, this year including two sections:
SECTION 1 PROFESSIONAL JOURNALISTS 4.000 EUR
SECTION 2 YOUNG JOURNALISTS (up to 30 years) 1.000 EUR
CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION
The Call is open to nationals of all 18 CEI Member States: Albania, Austria, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine.
As for Section 1, applicants should have acquired, in the last three years, special merits in investigative journalism and should still be active in journalism.
As for Section 2, applicants should have been active in investigative reporting even in the context of training activities organised by schools/universities and, as result, should have published one investigative story meeting all professional standards.
All media are accepted: press, broadcasting services (radio and TV), news agencies or Internet. Applicants should be nominated by individuals or a group of persons / journalism organisations / media companies / journalism schools or universities / journalism associations / NGOs. Self-nominations are not allowed.
TERMS OF PARTICIPATION
Applications should include the following documentation:
1. Filled-in Application Form
2. Curriculum Vitae of the candidate
3. Summary of the presentations of the candidate’s merits; details of the media which published / broadcasted the reports
4. Relevant supporting material about the candidate, such as TV reports on DVDs, audio reports on CDs, copies of articles. The material prepared in local languages should be accompanied by a synopsis in English.
Only applications including the above-mentioned documentation will be taken into account. Please note that supporting material cannot be returned. Therefore you are kindly invited to send original hard copies.
COMPOSITION OF THE JURY
The International Jury is made up of distinguished journalists and media experts from the CEI region.
