SEENPM Research Published on Media Self-regulation

December 5, 2007, Sofia. Freedom of Speech in Southeast Europe: Media Independence and Self-Regulation – this is the title of a book recently published by the Media Development Center (MDC) in Sofia. The publication is the outcome of a two-phase project, which was carried out in 20 months in all 11 SEENPM countries. The research was sponsored by the Network Media Program of the Open Society Institute. The book consists of two parts: Media Self-Regulation Practices and Decriminalization of Defamation, and Challenges to Media Self-Regulation in 2007. While Part I deals mainly with the various self-regulatory tools preventing defamation, Part II reveals to what extent those tools are being used in SEENPM countries.

The publication is available online.
