Wiki4MediaFreedom edit-a-thon: Belgrade, 21 November

Osservatorio Balcani Caucaso Transeuropa and Wikimedia Serbia invite all interested people to take part in the Wiki4MediaFreedom edit-a-thon, a collaborative editing “marathon” aimed at boosting the availability of accurate knowledge on media freedom in Wikipedia, the largest open encyclopedia worldwide.

Venue: Belgrade, Impact Hub, Gallery Room (Makedonska 21)

21st November 2016 | h 10:00am – 4:00pm | RSVP*

The Wiki4MediaFreedom edit-a-thon will gather media freedom activists, journalists, media experts and the community of Wikipedia editors who will work together on articles related to some of the most concerning issues affecting the media systems in Europe today, such as transparency of media ownership, media concentration, access to public information, censorship and self-censorship. Particular attention will be given to the situation in Serbia and in other South-East European countries.

After a short introduction, participants work side by side with experienced Wikipedia editors to improve and update contents, check sources, fill missing information and translate existing English articles into other languages. Participants may edit in English, Serbian and any other language they wish to use.

Refreshments and a light lunch for participants will be offered by organisers

The Wiki4MediaFreedom edit-a-thon is organised by OBC Transeuropa, in cooperation with Wikimedia Serbia and with the support of Wikimedia Italia.

* The event is limited to 35 participants. Registration is compulsory. Please, register via EventBrite: https://www.eventbrite.it/e/wiki4mediafreedom-belgrades-edit-a-thon-tickets-28889075001
