Council of Europe Considers SEENPM a “Notable Example”

November 25, 2007. According to the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, sound education and continuing training of journalists is a major precondition for the existence of professional media. This was emphasized in a document adopted at the September meeting of the Ministers’ Deputies. The Committee of Ministers welcomed Recommendation 1789 of the organization’s Parliamentary Assembly on the “Professional education and training of Journalists”.

At the same time, the Council’s Steering Committee on the Media and New Communication Services (CDMC) underlined that the South East European Network for Professionalization of Media is one of the notable examples of a network of training centers for journalists with whom the Council of Europe has often co-operated.
